Question 21 - When Will Paul Receive His Crown?
Paul wrote to Timothy, “I charge thee, before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick [living] and the dead at His Appearing and His Kingdom” (2Tim. 4:1). “Henceforth there is laid up for me a CROWN of Righteousness, which the Lord, the Righteous Judge, shall give me at that DAY; and not to me only, but unto all them also that love His Appearing”  (Vs.8). 

This is a Question that has probably never been Pondered by Pre-Trib or any Ministers. What “Day” did Paul mean? He said the DAY of Christ's “Appearing and His Kingdom.” According to Pre-Trib, Christ's "Appearing and His Kingdom," are events that do not happen until years after the Rapture. So, this does not match Pre-Trib's version of  Paul's list of chronological events at Christ's coming. Pre-Trib says Paul will receive his crown when he get's to Heaven after the Rapture and before Christ's, "Appearing and His Kingdom." Pre-Trib says Jesus makes no, "Appearing" when He comes to Rapture His Church to Heaven. They say He "sneaks in and snatches them away" and takes them secretly back to Heaven. Pre-Trib says Jesus comes back to earth after the Great Tribulation and at that time His, "Appearing and His Kingdom" occurs. The question to Ponder here is whether or not Paul is accurate about the timing of his Crown of Righteousness. If Paul is saying that he, and ALL who love Christ's appearing, receive their crowns "AT CHRIST's APPEARING," either he made a 7 year mistake, or Pre-Trib is incorrect. We can agree that the Holy Spirit inspired Paul to tell it like it will be.

If Paul had only used the word, "Day" in his explanation of when he would receive his Crown, there'd be no problem here; no need for Pondering. Many times in Scripture the Prophet has used the word "Day" as referring to the entire thousand years John wrote about in Revelation 20:3 and 6.Throughout Scripture we see the "Day of the Lord." In most cases this is reference to the thousand years Christians call the Millennium. But when Paul made direct reference to Christ's "Appearing," and His "Kingdom," he is definitely writing about the actual time that Jesus Appears and begins His Kingdom and gives Crowns to the Redeemed. This is not one of those serious errors, and if the Bible really teaches a Pre-Trib Rapture, we could overlook it. But, add this to all of the other unanswered and unanswerable questions, and we'd best carefully study the Scriptures for the real truth.
